Facing a spirited campaign from a former protégé, Senator Delores Kelley turned to us for help. Our job was to highlight Senator Kelley’s long history of achievements while laying out her ambitious agenda for the future.
A uniquely effective advocate for civil rights, Senator Kelley had a very compelling story to tell. And in the crowded 2018 media environment, we needed to make her mail stand out on a budget. We spent less than $150 to make-up, dress, and photograph a volunteer model in our office space. We decided to make lady-justice’s skin and clothing as statue-like as possible, which brought extra attention to the model’s very human eye.
Together with several other mailers that featured the dynamic and engaged senator herself, this custom piece helped us win a significant 66% to 22% victory with a third candidate taking 12% of the vote.
