We created a four-piece mail program to help re-elect freshman Frederick County, MD Councilmember Jessica Fitzwater. Our goals were to reintroduce Jessica to voters, bolster her profile in the district, and show that politics doesn’t have to get in the way of progress.
With a modest budget, we needed to use creative concepts to make our mail stand out in crowded mailboxes and show that good government is possible, even in this toxic political environment. More than in most other years, 2018 voters were looking for new kinds of leaders. Real people, not the same old type of politicians. Rather than relying on overused bulleted lists or bio paragraphs, we took an emotional and raw approach that was very effective. She was re-elected.
